Do you want to learn how to develop your baking skills? Understand the jargon and terminology bakers and pastry chefs use? How to become someone who can say ‘I can make macarons’?
Join George at Mac HQ in the Shropshire countryside, for this personal experience on how to make macarons! You will spend the morning or afternoon under George’s expert supervision making one of the most revered forms of patisserie in the world.
Macarons are difficult! There’s no denying that – you don’t get a reputation as being one of the hardest patisseries to master for no reason!
Our first attempt was awful – ended up being more like an Eton Mess… but a few years later in an attempt for redemption, through reading more and practicing, we are now making and selling macarons at markets, food festivals, and across the country.
We can show you each process, and break each step down to work for you. So that at the end of the class, you will be walking away with armfuls of perfectly formed, delicious macarons – that YOU have made.
You will learn how to make perfect Italian meringue, how to mix your batter to the correct consistency, how pipe your macaron shells consistently, tips and tricks to help you get the best results possible and many transferable baking skills that will only improve your confidence in the kitchen.

Founded during a pandemic, The Shropshire Macaron Co. sought to bring one the most fabled Parisian treats to the Shropshire Hills. Macarons are founder, George’s, favourite treats – the Shropshire born, 26-year-old, is a self-taught baker who realised his potential when making it to the penultimate audition rounds of The Great British Bake Off in 2019.
After years of inhaling kilos of icing sugar, countless baking tray burns and too many cracked shells to mention, George was confident enough of his macaron ability that in 2020, amidst a pandemic, he announced that The Shropshire Macaron Co. was born and set about the task of bringing Parisian patisserie to the Shropshire Hills.
You will spend the morning or afternoon under George’s expert supervision undertaking each of the detailed steps yourself, you will make up to 40 macarons over the 2.5 – 3 hours experience – at the end of which you will also be able to take home your macarons and share with your family and loved ones (if you dare!).
An ideal experience for bakers or foodies, of any age, experience and level. This is a relaxed and open environment where there is no such thing as a stupid question, or too many questions.
Children under the age of 18, must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian throughout the experience (maximum party of 3) – this is at no extra cost and you can assist where appropriate through the baking process.
